Today’s batch of e-mails, phone calls, and voice-mails were remarkable. Thanks all! The part we’re looking for is Movement E, if anyone knows where I could find it, we’d be thrilled. Now we’re just trying to find the (working) replacement parts in the hopes of getting the clock running again. It’s the sentimental value of the clock, combined with some yahoo who stole from a elderly woman with Altzheimer’s that really upsets us. Now my Grandmother’s clock (a gift from my now deceased Grandfather) still doesn’t work, is missing parts, and she’s out a couple thousand dollars. Apparently, he owes a LOT of people either parts or their money back. Only he never came back with the parts, closed shop & changed his phone number. She actually paid this guy’s airfare to come to her house, stay at a B&B, work on her clock, then fly back to his home, taking the parts back to his shop, and do the whole thing again in order to fix it. She lives in Alaska, and some rotten individual took parts that weren’t working out of her clock, claiming he would fix it for her. I’m trying to find someone to fix/replace parts on my Grandmother’s Ridgeway clock Model 127, with a serial number 4149. Someone else with a Ridgeway 127 in need of a little help – can anyone tell her where to get this movement?
I have found some extremely ugly curio clocks (they look like grandfther clocks that were swallowed by a tacky mall display case), strangely painted grandfather clocks, gorgeous antiques, and other fascinating oddities that come out of people’s attics when they need money or are about to move. Armed with that information, I have scoured, e-mailed hundreds of advertisers across the United States and portions of Canada. A few months ago my uncle uncovered the original advertisement, with a picture and measurements of the clock. I very much would like to have one of The Janet Radin clocks back in my family.
It is a grandmother clock – smaller in stature than a grandfather clock at 76 inches tall. Ridgeway designed and named a clock for her memory, The Janet Radin. They were distributors for several clock companies, including Ridgeway. At the time of her death, in 1974, she and mygrandfather owned a clock shop. My grandmother was Janet Rosen, nee Radin.
